Herb Pharm, a provider of whole herb extracts and herbal health care products, works to conduct its business in harmony with
the environment. That includes the way it farms, the organizations it supports and now it applies to the energy it buys.
Herb Pharm, located in Williams, Ore., became a Champion-level supporter of Pacific Power’s Blue Sky wind power. Herb Pharm’s
purchase of 18 blocks of Blue Sky each month for a year has the environmental benefit of not driving a car 32,400 miles or
planting nearly six acres of trees, according to the Northwest Power Planning Council and the Environmental Protection Association.
"I think wind is a fabulous way to get our power," explained Sara Katz, founder and co-owner of Herb Pharm. "We’re purchasing
Blue Sky because living sustainably on the planet is what we believe in and how we conduct our business. We are committed
to recycling, our farm is Tilth certified organic* and we are one of the first farms in southern Oregon that is certified
by the Salmon Safe program."
In addition, Herb Pharm uses recycled paper for its printing, and we organic alcohol and herbs in its products. Herb Pharm
began business in 1979. It offers more than 240 herbal products, including single liquid extracts, liquid extract compounds,
alcohol-free glycerites, oils, a salve, tablets and capsules. Herb Pharm recognizes that people cannot be healed at the expense
of the environment. As part of its mission, it is committed to inspiring a love for plants and a reverence for Mother Nature.
* Oregon Tilth is a nonprofit research and education organization that certifies organic farmers, processors, retailers and
handlers throughout Oregon, the United States, and the world.
